The New New Colossus
Shame on you,
huddled in piss-soaked rags,
sob story scrawled on a cardboard square.
No one cares what brought you here,
take your junk and move along — I won’t
say it again, do I make myself clear?
The nerve of you,
spouting gibberish like a spic;
we speak American here, like
Christian soldiers everywhere.
Get a clue, make it quick — red,
white and blue should be your prayer.
Look at you,
with your crazy ideas: empathy, forgiveness,
live and let live. Haven’t you heard,
there’s a new boss in town — burly,
buff and blonde. Yeah, he’s a clown,
get with the program lest we slap you down.
